Dorian was born in Washington, D.C. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio until the
age of nine, when he moved to Los Angeles, California. During
elementary school and into his freshman year of high school, Dorian
played bass. He then shifted his focus to doing Disc Jockey. at
parties, even forming a house party D.J./M.C. service with some friends.
Dorian went to college, getting a major in Broadcasting and Television
Production. His access to the college's production facilities made for
a lot of demand for his services as producer, working with some local
bands, producing their music demos. Dorian has also performed vocals at
some venues.
While he was still in college, Dorian went on some open casting calls as
an actor for commercials. At that point, Dorian shifted his focus to
acting, taking acting classes, scene study and workshops. To pay bills
and be able to maintain a flexible work schedule, Dorian worked as a
fitness trainer, as well as doing club promotions, which landed him work
as a doorman/bouncer/D.J. at some North Hollywood night clubs.
Dorian found himself an agent and started getting more work doing
commercials, we well as music videos (including one with Michael
Jackson), as well as doing modeling, and even did some troupe work,
doing sketch comedy. He eventually landed roles in Daytime Dramas,
sitcoms, dramatic series and independent productions, all while he was
still working as a bouncer/D.J.
He landed his first series role in 1996 for "Baywatch Nights", playing
the character of Diamont Teague, which led the way to some film work, as
well as guest appearances on other shows, like "Living Single",
"Moesha", "The Steve Harvey Show", "Third Rock from the Sun", and other
shows. He also was a co-host of a weekly radio talk show "The Cigar
Show". He also did a kickboxing workout video, voiceover work, and even
calendar layouts.
Dorian was then cast as the role of Darryl Morris on "Charmed", where he
continues his role, and is also currently is the host of "Soul Train".
He was also co-host of the daytime talk show "The Other Half", which
aired from 2001-2003 and co-starred Dick Clark, Mario Lopez and Danny
Bonaduce.
Dorian has Type 1 Diabetes (otherwise known as Juvenile Diabetes), and
is a spokesperson and advocate with the American Diabetes Association.
He also gives his time and talent working with local and nationally
oriented humanitarian and socially responsible groups and organizations
such as Jeopardy Program, sponsored by the Los Angeles Police Department
for at-risk youth. He's also one of the founding members of Epiphany
Theater Group, which was established by actor/writer/producer/director
Bill Duke
